PUBLIC NOTICE
The Lamar CISD board will hold a $249.2 million bond election on November 8th* to pay for 5 new campuses, land purchases, technology, transportation and existing facility improvements. Presently, LCISD is ranked 4th in high growth districts in the greater Houston area and has already grown 25.4% over the past five years, adding 4,997 students. The district is projected to gain an additional 800 to 1,000 new students per year for the next 10 years.
Of the $249.2 million bond plan, $193 million is earmarked for new construction, including an $82 million fifth high school, a $41 million junior high and a $15 million sixth-grade campus, all of which would be part of a proposed complex on FM 1093 near the fast-growing Fulshear area. The site also would accommodate a $3.6 million addition to the district's satellite transportation center. Also included is a $16 million elementary school in close proximity to the Grand Parkway and W. Belfort intersection, north of Richmond, and another $19 million elementary campus to go in an undetermined location.
Taxpayers would see a tax-rate increase of $0.0346 which equates to an increase of $59.76 per year based on the 2011 average priced home of $187,672. Senior citizens over 65 who have filed for exemptions will see NO increase in their taxes as a result of the bond.
*Early voting will be held October 24th-29th, Oct. 31st -Nov. 2nd from 8am-5pm and on Nov. 3rd and 4th from 7am-7pm. The Cinco Ranch Library in Katy is the closest voting site for LOBT.
