On Saturday, January 20, 2007 nearly 500 guests attended Extravaganza, the Greater Houston Builders Association’s annual installation gala. The event, emceed by Beverly Koehn, was held at the elegant International Hotel Ballroom. In recognition of the association’s 66th anniversary, this year’s theme was “GHBA Kicks at 66.” In keeping with the rockabilly theme, the installation was followed by a live concert by chart-topping country artist Eddy Raven, famous for his number one hits like “I Got Mexico” and “Bayou Boys.”

Lisa Clark of Ryko Development will go down in the record books as the first female Developer of the Year. Clark exemplifies a high standard for improving and protecting the favorable environment for development and building in Houston. A veteran of the real estate industry since 1986, Clark has served on the Developers Council since 2002 and has successfully led task force groups on important development issues. She served as president of the Bay Area Builders Association in 2000. Over the years, she has garnered numerous awards for her outstanding efforts and contributions. The industry has taken note of her professional excellence, as she has been the recipient of such prestigious awards as PRISM, Texas Star and the Bay Area Builder/Developer of the Year in 1998. Clark recently stepped on the association’s leadership ladder as secretary, and will serve as GHBA president in 2009.

For the second year in a row, the coveted Remodeler of the Year Award was given to Jeff Hunt, GMB, CGR, CAPS of Heritage Construction Services. The award is presented to a GHBA remodeler member who upholds high standards and credentials for himself and the Remodelers Council. Currently Hunt is an NAHB director and acted as the Education Committee chairman in 2006. “The single biggest contributing factor to my company’s success has been staying active in GHBA and the Remodelers Council,” Hunt said. “It is an honor to receive this award.”

The Greater Houston Builders Association is pleased to welcome its new board of Directors and congratulates this year’s award winners. We look forward to another year of continued growth and support for Houston’s building community.
